Here at Woodhouse, we take great pride in our menus and our nursery cook creates home cooked meals for the children each day. We are very proud that we scored top marks (5 stars) in our food hygiene inspection.
Jaine, our cook, has been looking after us for many years and is happy to meet with parents to discuss any dietary requirements. She works closely with our parents and a dietician to provide a balanced offering.
Cooking fresh food each day enables us to monitor salt and sugar levels. Salt is not added to any of the children’s meals and minimal amounts of sugar are used when baking cakes and biscuits and when making milk pudding such as custard and semolina.
Meals are revised for our babies and our younger children.
Mealtimes are supervised and the children eat together with the staff in their rooms providing another opportunity for social interaction between children and staff and to encourage children to sample new foods with a variety of tastes and textures and to promote healthy eating. Our nursery practitioners are aware of each child’s individual portion sizes.
We rotate our menus every 4 weeks to consider seasonal changes.
